The National Philoptochos Society Donates $20,000 to UNICEF For the End of Child Trafficking and Exploitation in the United States

New York, NY – The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society donated $20,000 to the United States Fund for UNICEF specifically for the elimination of trafficking and exploitation of children in the U.S, the National Board designated this donation and approved it at its recent meeting in Tampa, Florida, January 18 – 19, 2013. Archbishop Demetrios of America Affirms the National Philoptochos Board for the 2012-2014 Term of Service

The National Philoptochos Board was honored to join the Holy Eparchial Synod, the Archdiocesan Council and the Archons of our Ecumenical Patriarchate at a special luncheon where New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo publically announced the signing of the detailed documents for the rebuilding of the Church of St. Nicholas at Ground Zero. Date: February 1, 2013 New York, NY - Convening for the first time in 2013, the National Philoptochos Board of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society held its winter meeting on January 17 and 18 in Tampa, Florida. In celebration of the New Year and in commemoration of the Feast of St. Basil the Great, His Grace Bishop Sevastianos of Zela, Spiritual Advisor of Philoptochos, after offering the opening prayer cut the Vasilopita and conveyed His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios’ blessings. National Philoptochos Society Signs Contract For Purchase of Permanent Home

NEW YORK – Under the Spiritual Leadership of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, the National Philoptochos completed the contract signing to purchase a building in New York City to be known as the Philoptochos Center of Philanthropy. Present at the signing was His Grace Bishop Sevastianos, National Philoptochos Spiritual Advisor. Representing National Philoptochos were Aphrodite Skeadas, National President; Joanne Kakoyiannis, National Treasurer; Anita Kartalopoulos, National Legal Advisor; Helen Lavorata, Director and Mona L.
