 Saint Photios National Shrine

In 1965, the Archdiocese purchased the Avero house in historic Saint Augustine, Florida to commemorate the arrival of the first Greek settlers to arrive in the New World in 1768. The Philoptochos has continued to provide financial assistance towards the preservation of this National Shrine.

The Saint Photios Greek Orthodox Shrine Committee strives to provide financial assistance to, and encourage awareness and involvement in, the National Shrine, a religious and cultural center, dedicated to our Greek Orthodox ancestors, who arrived in St. Augustine, Florida.

For further inquiries, please contact Helen Lavorata, National Philoptochos Director, at 212-744-4390 or PhilosNY@aol.com.
