A Poem for Philoptochos
Philoptochos
Dedicated to all the invaluable Ladies of the Philoptochos
Written by Mr. Dimitrios Trigonis Translated by Christopher Tripoulas
You are: An aid to sojourners and the treasure of the suffering, the gold of those who are ill and the silver of he poor!
Timelessly running, You bring tranquility!
You are a shelter for the homeless the solicitude of the needy, you do everything possible to grant them sustenance!
You are the food of the hungry and a refuge for orphans, you are a ray of light and a moon shining upon those less fortunate!
An everyone always looks with hope to you, to find a little warmth amidst this cold life! And you, like a loving mother, give off the warmth of the sun!
An intercessor to Panagia! A proud sight for Christ! Compassionate, Beauticious Lady! The named you..."Philoptochos" With a heart of gold, because you always give so much!
And all your golden Ladies Who represent you are like the stars of the sky! That always shines so brightly! |
