National Philoptochos Donates $15,000

For the Metropolis of Detroit Nashville Flood Relief

New York, NY – National Philoptochos President Aphrodite Skeadas announced that the National Philoptochos Society responded immediately to the needs of victims of the Nashville Flood with $15,000 in aid from the National Philoptochos Society’s Emergency Fund.

The Metropolis of Detroit, under the leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, has established a special “Nashville Fund” and National Philoptochos is pleased to join with the Detroit Metropolis Parishes and Chapters to assist in this flood relief effort.

The Nashville Philoptochos appealed directly to the National Philoptochos for assistance stating, “This is a heartfelt plea to my sisters in Christ, there is suffering here, let us be the hands of the Church.”  Many families have been devastated by the loss of homes and in some cases many parishioners have lost everything.  Philoptochos Chapters are also encouraged to continue to send emergency kits to IOCC to support the Nashville Flood Relief since emergency kits are needed at the many shelters.
