Literacy Initiative

Nick Katsoris with Orlando Joy Group

National Philoptochos launched the Philoptochos Literacy Outreach Program in 2005 to promote literacy for both children and adults. National Philoptochos President Aphrodite Skeadas and Literacy Co-Chairmen Pam Argyris and Irene Arsoniadis announced a new literacy initiative, “Make A Difference with Loukoumi & Philoptochos,”  a collaboration between National Philoptochos and Nick Katsoris, author of the award winning Loukoumi books.

Philoptochos and Loukoumi are now teaming up to make a difference by participating in the National Make A Difference Day on October 25, 2014. Philoptochos Chapters can engage their entire community to participate in this important initiative to gather young people and adults to encourage literacy and to discuss with the children good deeds they can perform on National Make A Difference Day.

Nick Katsoris launched the Loukoumi and Philoptochos Literacy Campaign on Sunday, October 7, 2012 with a visit to the Holy Trinity Philoptochos Chapter in Orlando, Fl where Nick had a wonderful time reading the books to the JOY children.
