LOCAL PHILOPTOCHOS CHAPTER HARNESSES SUPPORT OF ENTIRE PARISH COMMUNITY FOR HAITI RELIEF EFFORT

haitireliefeffortIn response to the appeal of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and National Philoptochos President Aphrodite Skeadas, the local Philoptochos Chapter of St. Demetrios Church in Rocky River, OH enlisted the support of the entire parish community to benefit the relief effort for the victims of the tragic earthquake in Haiti.

Support within the parish was overwhelming.  The community was inspired by the moving remarks of Rev. James Doukas and Philoptochos Chapter President Mrs. Jeanne Paras on January 17, 2010.  $1700.00 was collected and forwarded to the National Philoptochos Society, earmarked for Haiti Relief.  In addition, working cooperatively, the community assembled over 200 Health Kits, which have been mailed to IOCC for distribution in Haiti. The St. Demetrios Community is planning to carry out additional projects in the months ahead as the relief effort continues and needs in Haiti are further identified.
