Metropolis of Chicago Ladies Philoptochos Society

Honors Past Presidents at Annual Luncheon

This year's Philoptochos Luncheon, Generations of Inspiration, was a tribute to all past presidents of the Metropolis Ladies Philoptochos Society and was held Saturday, September 15th at the Rosewood Restaurant and Banquets in Rosewood.  A video, narrated by Harry Mark Petrakis and including past board members and presidents was shown during the luncheon.  The video was a narrative history of how Philoptochos has evolved since its inception to the present time.  The Chairwomen of the event were Mary Ann Bissias and Penny Geavaras.  A special thank you to Marilyn Tzakis and her committee for their hard work in producing this video.

The past presidents that were honored at the event were:  Mrs. Beatrice Marks, Mrs. Helen Theodosakis, Mrs. Georgia Barris, Mrs. Susan Regos, Mrs. Mary Ann Bissias and Mrs. Lori Voutiritsas.  An icon was presented to each of the honorees to thank them for all their efforts while in office.

The annual luncheon generates funds to sustain its ongoing programs such as the Feed the Hungry Program, Philanthropy Fund and many philanthropic endeavors.  This year the Metropolis of Chicago Saint Iakovos Retreat Center was the major benefactor. The Board of the Metropolis express gratitude the chapters for their generous donations to underwrite a majority of the expenses and for their patron listings.  Much appreciation to all that made a patron donation, purchased raffle tickets and those that attended the event.

The Metropolis Philoptochos continues to be inspired by the past generations of Philoptochos members that have worked diligently and tirelessly for over seventy-five years to make this organization one of the largest women's philanthropic religious organizations in the United States.
